Fishers Recognized for Performance Management Successes

Fishers Recognized for Performance Management Successes

September 2009

The International City/County Management Association (ICMA) recognized the Town of Fishers for their standout efforts and results in performance measurement and management. Fishers is among only 18 cities and counties in the country recognized with a Certificate of Distinction from the ICMA Center for Performance Measurement™ (CPM).

Criteria for the Certificate of Distinction include:

  • reporting of performance data to the public through budgets, newsletters, and/or information provided to elected officials, with sufficient context to judge past performance;
  • verification to ensure data reliability;
  • training staff in the principles of performance measurement;
    using performance data in strategic planning and management decision-making; and
  • sharing performance measurement knowledge with other local governments through presentations, site-visits and networking.

Performance management aids in cost management, program prioritization, and quality improvement. It also encourages accountability and transparency.

Pull Quote: “Measurements of these kinds make our staff better. The measurements provide standards which help us more efficiently serve the Town of Fishers, and make us better stewards of your tax dollars. We’re proud of this distinction.” -Scott Faultless, President
Fishers Town Council
